CBD AGAINST THE DISEASES OF ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE

Alzheimer's disease is the most common type of dementia, a general term for conditions that occur when the brain no longer functions properly .

Symptoms can often manifest themselves from simple memory loss, especially when dealing with recently learned information, difficulty completing daily tasks, having difficulty following or participating in a conversation, may leave objects in unusual places, or may lose things and not being able to retrace your steps to find them again.

In the initial stage , the symptoms of dementia may be minimal, however, when the disease causes more brain damage, the symptoms worsen. The rate at which the disease progresses differs for everyone, however, on average, people with Alzheimer's live eight years after symptoms have manifested.

Research is striving to find new and different ways of shedding light on this disease, and one of them focuses on cannabis.

Dr. Alois Alzheimer discovered this disease in 1907.  It was only when Dr. Robert Katzman made the controversial claim in 1970 that senile dementia and Alzheimer's are the same pathology, and certainly not a normal aspect of the aging process but a real disease.

WHAT EXACTLY IS ALZHEIMER'S DISEASE?

Alzheimer's is a term for a whole range of degenerative brain disorders, and is the most common form of dementia affecting 70% of dementia sufferers worldwide . The disease itself is a neurological condition involving brain cell death, memory loss, and cognitive decline, moderate at first and progressively worsening. The disease can be sporadic or familial: the sporadic form can affect any adult, but usually occurs after sixty-five years of age. The variety of symptoms as we have already mentioned includes: confusion in daily conversation, slowdown in usual activities, loss of enthusiasm for previously enjoyed activities, often persistent memory difficulties - especially for recent events, forgetting well-known places, people and faces , emotional unpredictability and deterioration of relationship skills, difficulty or inability to process instructions and questions. All this may indicate the presence of one or more similar conditions, such as Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia, or Lewy body dementia.

NEUROTRANSMITTERS

Specifically, the brain works through communication between neurons. The huge and complex set of neurons that make up the brain are constantly talking to each other, and this conversation is made possible by neurotransmitters . These chemicals are emitted by one brain cell, move across the synapse , and are received by another brain cell. Neurotransmitters are a finely balanced cocktail that allows the brain to communicate with itself and the surrounding world. The brain has over one hundred billion brain cells , and between 10,000 and 15,000 connections ( synapses) for each brain cell require the correct work of neurotransmitters in order to function.

CANNABIS, THC, CBD & ALZHEIMER

Degenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's inhibit normal brain function, so  maintaining healthy brain tissue throughout life is important and can reduce the risk of Alzheimer's disease - as do other disorders such as multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's .

This is achieved through regular mental and physical exercise, but research is showing that the chemical balance in the brain can be improved with the introduction of cannabinoids hostile to the precursors of Alzheimer's disease - a certain set of enzymes. The presence of these enzymes is one of the early signs and hallmarks in the diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease, and one of the major contributors to the progression of the disease. Stimulation of the endocannabinoid system with constant doses of THC and CBD in rats showed increased elasticity of existing cells, prevention of neuronal inflammation, and strengthening of neurogenesis.

The cannabinoids present in the cannabis sativa plant acted as antagonists against the specific enzyme that allows aggressive peptides to accumulate in brain cells, and helped prevent the formation of plaques and neuro-tangles. The trial has shown that when CBD and THC are given for protective purposes to rats with Alzheimer's disease, they can relieve symptoms such as social isolation, improve facial recognition, and enhance memory. There is no known cure for Alzheimer's, and medications are routinely prescribed only for secondary symptoms, such as restlessness or depression. Cannabinoids have been shown to calm agitation in aggressive patients and nocturnal disturbances in agitated patients. They have also been shown to have a calming effect on the most disturbed, induce sleep, stimulate appetite, and fight depression in Alzheimer's sufferers.

There is still a lot to learn about the complexities of the brain, about Alzheimer's, if you want to know more about products rich in cannabinoids and avoid psychotropic effects you can view our e-commerce  bongae.com
